Huawei went big at CES 2013. The company unveiled the Huawei Ascend Mate, the 6.1″ smartphone/tablet hybrid set to take on the Galaxy Note, and the Huawei Ascend D2. The Ascend D2 is the smartphone with the mass market appeal, with its 5″ FHD Super Retina 1080p display with an eye-popping 443 pip. With the D2, Huawei is hoping to compete with the likes of Samsung, HTC, and other major smartphone makers with a flagship device, and we went hands on with the Ascend D2 to see how it performed.

Full specs for the D2 include:

  • 5-inch Super Retina IPS display, 1,920 x 1,080 resolution
  • 1.5GHz quad-core processor
  • 13-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture, 5P lens and hybrid IR filter
  • 1.3 megapixel front facing shooter

Does anyone know how much this phone costs? Its specs are impressive, but being made by a Chinese company I hope its price is affordable to many.

@phone services Looking at about $640 (3990 Yen) in China. No word on what it'll be when or if it comes to North America.
